Holiday Hockey Game Raised $450 for TFRC
February 2nd, 2009
Each holiday season the Middle Sackville Baptist and the Sackville United Church along with members of the local Sackville men’s morning pick-up hockey league organise a Holiday Hockey Game and raise funds for a charity of their choice. This year the men, many of whom are local fathers, decided to donate the money raised to the Tantramar Family Resource Centre. When asked why they chose the Centre, Rev. Vernon Vickruck of Middle Sackville Baptist Church, said, “We really like the work the TFRC is doing for families in the area and we want to support them and enable them to do even more.” An impressive $450 was raised at the game, which took place Saturday, December 27th at the Tantramar Memorial Veterans Civic Centre. The TFRC wishes to thank all those great dads and other supportive players for their donations. The money raised will be going to important literacy projects in the region. In the past the Holiday Hockey Game players have raised money for the Tsunami Relief Fund, the local cancer society and for the defibrillator at the Civic Centre.
